Oradea lights

Oradea is a beautiful city located in Bihor County, offering many amazing sights to behold.

One of my favourite places is the main square, where Christmas festivities are held every winter and the city centre is decorated by Christmas lights. The special atmosphere of the Christmas festivities is greatly enhanced by the smell of mulled wine and handmade sweets, as well as Christmas music. Unique Christmas presents can be purchased at the stalls set up. At the centre of the square, thereis a huge Christmas tree, which is why many people come to take photos of themselves in front of the beautifully lit tree. The lights are fabulous, the lights of the Christmas fair cometomind for the first time when I think about Oradea. Famous singers usually give concerts as well, at the weekends.

The lights of the Christmas fair can be seen from the top of the CalvaryHill, from where you can see the whole city, and the view is amazing, especially during night-time, thanks to all the lights. Nowadays, the Calvary Hill is called “The Mushroom”: during the communist era, in 1955, thechapel that stood there was demolished, and a mushroom-shaped nightclub was built in its place. This has been repurposed into a restaurant, aptly called “The Mushroom”. It is definitely worth a look at the city’s lights during night time from here. In Oradea, visitors and tourists can always find themselves in a friendly environment. I especially enjoy walking in the evening because the city is safe. If I feel like I need to vent, the city lights always soothe me. Most of the major places of interest are within walking distance of each other, but there are also trams and buses.

In addition to the lights and moods reminiscent of the old atmosphere of the former “Paris on the Pece Stream”, the pulsating lights of modern life are also proportionately present in the bustling city. The illuminated advertisements of the huge shops, cinemas, cosy cafés and wine bars are also animportant part of the unique lights of Oradea.
